testimonials - your giving makes a real difference

The United Way of West Ellis County supports 28 agencies in our community. The following are stories of how these funds are changing lives every day...

Ellis County

“My mother, Verlin, looks forward each day to meeting one of your volunteers, and the food is just an
added bonus! Thanks again for blessing my family with the services of Meals-on-Wheels.”

-Betty, Waxahachie, Meals on Wheels

“I was matched with my little brother James at the beginning of his seventh grade year at a time when he was more interested in playing computer games than being interactive with others at school. He will graduate from Waxahachie High School this year in the top 10% of his class, was a captain on the varsity football team, successfully competed in UIL academic activities, was one of 6 seniors to be recognized by the faculty as an outstanding student and is determined to go to college and study engineering. He has excelled as a leader and proved remarkable integrity in life. I truly believe that his opportunity to be involved with Big
Brothers Big Sisters has been instrumental in developing strong skills to be a future leader of our country. I have been blessed to be a part of my little brothers’
life and as I look up at him today, I am confident that BBBS will feel as proud of him as I do. Thanks to all who supported Big Brothers Big Sisters as you are making a big difference in the lives of many people.”

- Big Brother Pat Merrill, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Texas

"We are very excited and encouraged by the gift from the United Way that makes our paraprofessional scholarship possible. This scholarship will not only reward a dedicated school district employee for valuable service in years past, but will empower that employee to make an even greater impact in the lives of our students and our community in the years ahead."
